This page will change periodically, showing some of the exhibitions I have undertaken.  Currently featured is Common Threads, an  exhibition of traditional Japanese everyday stitched textiles from the collection of Sue  Leighton-White, in conjunction with my contemporary textiles made in response to the honest beauty of the traditional pieces.  The detail above is from a kasuri dyed and sashiko stitched hanten (coat), one of the traditional Japanese pieces in the exhibition.

Common Threads and the accompanying catalogue have been a labour of love for Sue and myself.  The project has extended over a number of years, requiring a huge commitment of both energy and finances, but it has been enormously fulfilling to share our passion with such an enthusiastic and international audience.

Since 1999 the exhibition has toured to the UK, Japan and New Zealand, as many venues encompassing all states of Australia.  Most recently, it was a major featured exhibition of the 1995 international Surface Design conference in the USA.  It hung for three months in a wonderful large space in the Belger Art Center, Kansas City.

Below is a selection of works from Common Threads.
